Hey All!
Wow! So much has happened since my last post! As I’m sure many of you read on Angela’s blog, Sunday, Ange, Jess and I decided to meet up for a 10K run downtown, followed by lunch at Fresh!
We ran along the Lakeshore downtown and it was absolutely breathtaking.
There is an amazing running/biking trial all along the Lakeshore that we took advantage of. I can’t tell you how quickly this run went by. With all of the great conversation, company and scenery I probably could have run all day! By the time we hit 10K our bellies were grumbling and we were ready for some fuel. Where else would 3 health crazed nuts go, none other than Fresh of course!
I decided on the granola parfait with soy yogurt.

It was exactly what I was craving – so delicious and so sweet.
After our lunch we ran another mile and a half back to our cars. We decided to make this a monthly meet up. We are going to change locations and restaurants to keep things interesting. I can’t say enough about running with others – I honestly, hardly ever get to do it, but when I do the time passes so quickly! I love these girls so much and can’t wait to meet up again in a month’s time
Switching gears a little, I thought I would talk write a little about how Hubby and I manage our dietary lifestyles together, as they are quite different. My husband is a carnivore, there is NO denying that, I knew that from the day I met him, and I know it’s not something he is willing to give up in his diet. Just as he respects my choices, I respect his. Having said that, in the beginning it was difficult to manage our meals. I struggled with how to incorporate our two different lifestyles. After a lot of trial and error, I have come to a good place where we are both enjoying what we like to eat. The slow cooker is a HUGE lifesaver and for any vegan/vegetarian with a carnivore spouse, I would definitely recommend investing in one of these. I can throw any type of meat in there, chili, stew or soup and it basically does all the work for me. By the time hubby is home from work all I have to do is plate it and serve it!
Another big hit in our house for Frank is stir fry. This is something I can throw together pretty quickly, which he really enjoys. To show you how a High-Raw Vegan and Carnivore can life peacefully in one household, I thought I would show you our meal our His and Her Meal on Monday night.
“His” was chicken stir fry with brown rice + loads of veggies, topped with sesame seeds + cashews
And “Hers” raw “un”stir fry
All mixed together:
My “un”stir fry consisted of cauliflower rice – which was about 1 C cauliflower, 2 tbsp cashews, splash of lemon juice, Braggs, nutritional yeast. Toppings included red cabbage, kale, broccoli, tomato, avocado, sesame seeds and topped with a splash of toasted sesame oil (not raw – but adds a delicious Asian flavour to the stir fry!).
I just wanted to show you all, with a little planning, it is possible to make two different dietary lifestyles work in the same household. It may be a little extra work, but for us, it’s worth it. I can’t say enough about how respectful and accepting my husband is of my dietary choices. I am so thankful to have his support, and although he may not agree 100% with my choices, he respects them, as I respect his
So! Does anyone else deal with this type of situation? How do you deal with it – I’d love to hear your thoughts!
P.S. My dehydrator has been very busy this week – stay tuned for some mouth watering pics
xoxo
