Hi Friends,

I have had quite the week – which is why you haven’t seen me around too much! I suppose I will get right down to business and explain why I have been in hiding for the past couple of days. I guess what they say is true a picture is worth a thousand words . . .

No, your eyes are not deceiving you – I chopped about 5 or 6 inches off of my hair – why you ask? I wish I had an answer, it seemed like a good idea at the time, I was getting tired of my old locks and needed something new – well . . . this is definitely something new.  I spent a good 2 hrs in complete and utter despair when I got home – I hardly ever cry, but I was actually uncontrollably crying. I am actually that girl that has no problems with change – I frequently change my hair colour, frequently change the length – but for some reason I couldn’t get a grip! Needless to say, I spent a few days sporting this look . . .

IMG00057 It’s hard to tell from the top two pictures, but I actually have side bangs – I couldn’t get a good picture of it – I think I prefer the bangs pulled back though!

Now. . . here comes the worst part of the story. Lets take a few steps back . . . after leaving the salon, I called hubby and was pretty freaked out – he sounded extra chipper, and asked for my exact ETA – which I found odd. As I pulled into the driveway this was what was awaiting me on the driveway . . .

An EARLY Christmas present! Hubby bought me the Life Fitness Elliptical Machine and couldn’t wait until Christmas to give it to me :) Am I not the luckiest girl ever!! We also have the Life Fitness Treadmill – so this was an exciting addition to the family :) Sitting here now, I am SUPER excited about this amazing present – but poor hubby – I was so upset and distraught over my hair – the surprise didn’t go over as well as he had planned.  I feel horrible because it was such a sweet and awesome present, but because I was so upset over my hair I couldn’t truly enjoy the moment – and I know hubby was disappointed :(

Now that the despair is over and I am back to my old self again – Hubs knows how truly appreciative I am of this gift – I’ve already used it 2 or 3 times. I love being able to do a mix of both the treadmill and elliptical – it makes for a great work out and you don’t get bored of either one!

Other exciting news . . .

100_1090CHRISTMAS TREE is UP!!! And yet another reason why I am the luckiest girl EVER! Hubs lets me have a completely PINK Christmas tree and he even bought me a beautiful pink star for the top of it on our first Christmas two years ago!  The pictures don’t do the tree justice – it actually looks really beautiful in person. I am such a Christmas junkie! I LOVE it – the whole spirit of Christmas brings me so much joy. I find people are so much nicer during the holiday season – don’t you? :)

I’ll leave you with a few of my eats over the past couple of days – not surprisingly some salad beasts, as well as some SUPER green juices. I have been truly inspired by a DVD I recently order and viewed, Crazy, Sexy, Cancer – which is a documentary by Kris Carr where she chronicles her journey through her diagnoses of a incurable cancer. I will do a complete review of the movie this weekend – but if you get the chance to see it, I highly recommend it – I am being honest when I say it has changed my life!

The bottom two pictures are from my dinner last night – I decided I felt like a salad but I was feeling like warm veggies so I roasted some kabocha squash, carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower and served them over some organic greens, topped with a veggie burger. This was SO Delicious – I got my warm comfort food + veggies. On the side I had a piece of gluten free quinoa bread. This is my absolute favourite gluten free bread – it is by a company called Little Stream Bakery and it is a local company which I love! This might actually be one thing that is readily available in Canada and not in the United States :) (In case my American readers aren’t aware – us Canadians complain a lot because you have SO many great products there that we can’t get here :) )

I’ll leave you with a beautiful shot of the Green juice I have been enjoying lately . . .

Kale, Romaine Lettuce, Celery, Cucumber, Sunflower Sprouts, and half an apple for a little sweetness!

Have a wonderful Saturday and I’ll be back with my post on Crazy, Sexy, Cancer and how it has changed my life!

xoxo

Question: Have you ever gotten a haircut that you instantly regretted?

I have come to terms with my hair now and am starting to get used to it. It made me realize how vain I can be at times – which I did not like learning about myself. Over the past couple of days I have been constantly telling myself how grateful I am that I have hair on my head and can afford to get it coloured and styled when I want to. There are many people out there who have lost their hair due to illness or cannot afford even a simple trim – this made me realize how silly I was being and how thankful I should be! It’s amazing how turning your negative thoughts into positive ones can make such a difference!

I think your hair looks great! I do know that initial shock though – and with almost every hair cut I get I pretty much hate it at first, and then a day or two later I love it. I can pretty much expect that to happen every time!

How great about the elliptical!! Sorry though that it was sort of overshadowed by hair cut misery, I’m sure the fact that you are loving it now has totally helped. :D

And your tree is so pretty, what a perfect spot for it in your house near the windows – the first pic in the dark with the lights on is so pretty! I just love this time of year!

Every time I get my hair cut I hate it. I don’t know what it is about hair – but it gets me so emotional. I think your hair cut is super cute!

PS – can you send all the super nice people that you meet during the holidays to shop at my store, I don’t think they got the message that it’s the most wonderful time of the year . . . oh working retail at Christmas it’s a love / hate relationship.

    Hi
I just found your blog and think it is terrific, I hope to follow it :)
I am also from Canada, I just started my own blog but it is not really entertaining or revolving around food. I would like to do more food pics, but I am wary about the whole-internet thing you know?
    Have a great day.

oh yes. I have cried when it was cut way to short and I have cried when it was colored way darker that I asked for. I think we have a comfort zone with our hair. Outside of it is a scary place. But I love your new style btw! You might end up liking the shorter style better..

I think your hair looks great!! I got a bad haircut last week actually. I can’t seem to find someone who knows how to layer hair properly!!!

I also wanted to tell you that I made your raw macaroons yesterday and they are AMAZING!!!! Yum! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

I think you’re not only very lucky but very pretty with that new cut! I think it looks great :)

Oh, and please come decorate my house! Love the paint colours! So my style :)

    Your hair looks beautiful!

I chopped all of my hair off last summer after having hair extensions and had the same reaction. It takes time to get used to, but once you do and have fun styling it you’ll love it! It is very French, very chic, and is fun to get dressed up with! Just think of yourself as a sexy, fearless European babe rockin the new do. You’ll love it in no time. And it really does look great!!! Tres sexy!

Cute do, Doll!! I admire you for even going in to the salon to cut your hair. I am creature of habit and need to change things up a bit. I looks very cute!

ohhh last Christmas Eve I cut my own bangs straight across – You know how Kim Kardashian had this time last year?! I cried then….they were all out of line, lucky I knew to leave them long enough to trim them up straight. But it was scary!!

    Love your early Christmas gift!!

Your hair looks great! I know that it is a big shock when you do something so drastic, but you will get used to it!

I have never regretted a haircut, but I’ve been really upset when I’ve had bad ones from a bad stylist!
