Hi Loves!

winterolympic

Wow it’s been a while! I have been SO caught up in the Olympics, it’s crazy!! Having the Olympics in a Canadian City has been so magical – I can only imagine what it is like for all of you actually living in B.C. I am SO proud to be Canadian, so proud of all the athletes and so proud to see all of the hard work and dedication that the wonderful people of Vancouver have put in to put together such an amazing 2010 Winter Games!

I love the spirit of the Olympic games. I love that no matter your race, ethnicity, or religious beliefs, that this is a time that we all join together as a nation and cheer on our dedicated athletes. You can’t help but notice that there is a special feeling in the air, everywhere you go, you feel a little bit more connected to those around you.

Personally, I have been glued to the T.V. watching both Figure Skating and Hockey. I’m not sure if I have mentioned this, but I was a figure skater for about 12 years of my life. It basically was my life growing up, so needless to say I have been glued to the T.V. Unfortunately, we haven’t had any medal hopefuls yet, but there is still the Women and Ice Dancers to come, so I have my fingers crossed :) Being Canadian – it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I won’t be missing one second of the Canadian Men’s Hockey – Hockey is basically a religion in Canada, I can’t even imagine how crazy our country will go if our Men’s Hockey wins Gold on home ice. I get teary just thinking about it!! :)

Because sports (figure skating) was such a huge part of my life, I get so emotional watching the athletes compete. You train so hard, for so many years, it is just so inspiring to see them living out their dreams. As I have watched the athletes over the past week, it has got me thinking a lot about dreams.  We all have dreams, whether it be related to sports, career, travel, relationships, etc. Some we have had since childhood, others we may have just recently discovered. Life can go by so quickly that sometimes those dreams that you had as a young child, a teenager or a young adult get buried in the back of your mind. These athletes dreams are coming true because they have worked so hard to make them happen. As I was watching the games, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealously, or maybe I should call it desire, to be making my own dreams a reality. When I reflected on this, however, I realized that maybe I haven’t been putting enough effort into truly trying to make my dreams my reality. Life is not just going to happen the way you want it to, unless you go out and fight for it. If I spent my life waiting around for my dreams to come true, I think I’d be waiting an awfully long time.  I think sometimes, when we think of dreams coming true, we think of luck, like winning the lottery. When in reality, luck doesn’t have to have anything to do with having your dreams come true.  Working hard, believing in yourself and fighting for what you want is what make dreams come true. We all have it in us to make our dreams our reality, but we have to believe in ourselves and believe that we are capable of achieving anything we want to in life.

Maybe this is just a pep-talk for myself to instead of sitting around watching others have their dreams come true, start putting together an action plan to accomplish all the dreams I have for myself and my family. But I think it’s important for all of us to really reflect on what we are doing to make our dreams come true.  I wish there was a magically fairy that came around granting wishes, but unfortunately, there’s not. The responsibility lies within ourselves, our minds and most importantly our hearts to go after and fight for what we want.

Have the Olympic Games stirred up any similar emotions in any of you? I’d love to hear some of your dreams and how you plan on making them your reality!

P.S. Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the remaining days of my Food Combining Challenge, I’ll recap my thoughts and whether or not I plan on continuing with these principles!

xoxo

I don’t watch a ton of tv, but seriously, I’ve watched more tv in the past 6 days than the previous 6 months combined.
I’ve enjoyed the entertainment of the figure skating costumes. Also, watching the athletes makes me feel lazy just sitting on the couch, even though I’ve just finished a run or workout!

I have been watching the cross country skiing biathlon and the moguls. I just watch whatever is on when I turn on the TV. I love the olympics. They are so inspirational! I am following my dreams by working on my masters and training for a marathon (and hopefully a half ironman) coming up. Generally, my biggest dream is just to be happy, and I have already accomplished that!

Hello Inspiration!! I love this post, and I agree with you! You can not make your dreams become reality until you actually take action steps to get there. So wonderful!

I make a list everyday on the action steps I need to take for that one day to get me ahead.

    Have a great day love!

I get goosebumps watching the Olympics- it IS so magical!
I’ve felt the same way about my dreams too, but I realized that no one else is going to make them happen FOR me. I have to do them MYSELF. So I made a bucket list and have vowed that if anything comes along that will help me fulfill my list items, I have to jump at that opportunity. It isn’t about worrying if you will ever get the chance to do something, it is if you will have enough time to do everything!
