Hey All!
Wow! So much has happened since my last post! As I’m sure many of you read on Angela’s blog, Sunday, Ange, Jess and I decided to meet up for a 10K run downtown, followed by lunch at Fresh!
We ran along the Lakeshore downtown and it was absolutely breathtaking.
There is an amazing running/biking trial all along the Lakeshore that we took advantage of. I can’t tell you how quickly this run went by. With all of the great conversation, company and scenery I probably could have run all day! By the time we hit 10K our bellies were grumbling and we were ready for some fuel. Where else would 3 health crazed nuts go, none other than Fresh of course!
I decided on the granola parfait with soy yogurt.

It was exactly what I was craving – so delicious and so sweet.
After our lunch we ran another mile and a half back to our cars. We decided to make this a monthly meet up. We are going to change locations and restaurants to keep things interesting. I can’t say enough about running with others – I honestly, hardly ever get to do it, but when I do the time passes so quickly! I love these girls so much and can’t wait to meet up again in a month’s time
Switching gears a little, I thought I would talk write a little about how Hubby and I manage our dietary lifestyles together, as they are quite different. My husband is a carnivore, there is NO denying that, I knew that from the day I met him, and I know it’s not something he is willing to give up in his diet. Just as he respects my choices, I respect his. Having said that, in the beginning it was difficult to manage our meals. I struggled with how to incorporate our two different lifestyles. After a lot of trial and error, I have come to a good place where we are both enjoying what we like to eat. The slow cooker is a HUGE lifesaver and for any vegan/vegetarian with a carnivore spouse, I would definitely recommend investing in one of these. I can throw any type of meat in there, chili, stew or soup and it basically does all the work for me. By the time hubby is home from work all I have to do is plate it and serve it!
Another big hit in our house for Frank is stir fry. This is something I can throw together pretty quickly, which he really enjoys. To show you how a High-Raw Vegan and Carnivore can life peacefully in one household, I thought I would show you our meal our His and Her Meal on Monday night.
“His” was chicken stir fry with brown rice + loads of veggies, topped with sesame seeds + cashews
And “Hers” raw “un”stir fry
All mixed together:
My “un”stir fry consisted of cauliflower rice – which was about 1 C cauliflower, 2 tbsp cashews, splash of lemon juice, Braggs, nutritional yeast. Toppings included red cabbage, kale, broccoli, tomato, avocado, sesame seeds and topped with a splash of toasted sesame oil (not raw – but adds a delicious Asian flavour to the stir fry!).
I just wanted to show you all, with a little planning, it is possible to make two different dietary lifestyles work in the same household. It may be a little extra work, but for us, it’s worth it. I can’t say enough about how respectful and accepting my husband is of my dietary choices. I am so thankful to have his support, and although he may not agree 100% with my choices, he respects them, as I respect his
So! Does anyone else deal with this type of situation? How do you deal with it – I’d love to hear your thoughts!
P.S. My dehydrator has been very busy this week – stay tuned for some mouth watering pics
xoxo

Cool that you have found a way to make different diets work so well! I’m in a somewhat different situation now as my bf went veg three years ago, and vegan last summer. At this point, we both tend to cook (or uncook) for ourselves on most nights as we have different schedules, but he sometimes says he misses being able to cook a nice big meal that I will want to eat. I, on the other hand, don’t mind being the only raw food fan in the house because there’s always more raw goodness for me. Although he can’t get enough of the desserts
I can’t wait to hear how your macaroons turn out! I’ve been dehydrating all week, too — onion bread, and rosemary crackers. All so good…

Hi Krissy!
This is my first time posting, although I’ve been reading your blog for awhile!
I totally relate – my boyfriend is an Italian Carnivore and I’m a gluten-free pescatarian, aie! We cook together by either eating the same “ideas” (just like your stir fry) or by making “topping” (be it sauce, veggies, etc) that we put on our respective bases (he’ll go with pasta, I use salads, etc) He’s been such a great sport though, and gets excited when we try to make new things together with my restrictions. The salad I wrote about in my first blog post (on Monday, haha!) was a huge hit – the recipe’s up there
Can’t wait for your next post, as always!

You seem to be making life with a carnivore work well! I am still struggling with this. My boyfriend loves his meat, and I love my veggies- although I am not a vegetarian, I rarely eat meat anymore and it can be a challenge to plan meals for the both of us. Usually I make us a vegan/vegetarian side and either use it for my main, or make myself a veg main and him a meat main. On the rare occassion I do eat meat, I serve myself more veggies and less meat/starch. We do not have a slow cooker but I wish I did!

Its great that you’ve managed to find a way to cater to both of your diets. Im not so considerate. If my boyfriend doesnt want to eat what Im making for myself he can go to Quiznos and get himself a sandwich.
I should probably stop making him do that eh?

Ooh, that un-stirfry looks fantastic!!
What a fun run/lunch meet-up!
My boyfriend is a fellow vegan & will eat anything I make, so I am a very lucky lady! You seem to manage life with a omni quite well!
